Blue Valley North Spring Concert Ensemble Auditions

Spring Semester Concert Ensembles
1st Hour - Wind Ensemble

2nd Hour - Symphonic Band
7th Hour - Concert Band

All students enrolled in Marching Band and Concert Band will complete a Spring Concert Ensemble Audition for placement in Concert Band, Symphonic Band, or Wind Ensemble for 2nd Semester. 


Audition dates/times are listed below:

Wednesday, October 30th, 2024

By Sign-Up Audition Appointment

Between 6:00pm and 8:30pm

Percussionists might have additional earlier or later time slots available.

ALL AUDITIONERS:​

  • Arrive at least 30 minutes ahead of your audition time slot.  Chances are that rooms MAY be running ahead of schedule.

  • The Band Room (Brass) and Choir Room (Woodwinds) will serve as your warmup and holding area.  Percussionists will have a different warmup/holding area will be On Stage in the PAC.

  • You are responsible for bringing your music to your audition.

  • Check in with your room's door monitor ahead of your time.

  • You will be assigned a number to remain anonymous to the adjudicator.

  • Please DO NOT speak or talk during the audition for anonymity.

  • When you enter the room, the door monitor will announce your number, leave the room, and then you will begin your audition.

  • When you are finished, quietly leave the room.

  • You may leave once your audition is fully completed.

ALL WOODWINDS & BRASS:​

  • Perform your CHROMATIC SCALE first.

  • Then, perform your 2 PRE-SELECTED MAJOR SCALES (to be announced closer to auditions).

  • Next, perform all of your PROVIDED EXCERPTS.

  • Lastly, you will turn over a piece of paper with a sight reading example.  You have ~30 seconds to look it over, then begin performing it.

ALL PERCUSSIONISTS:​

  • Percussionists are required to perform the excerpts provided on all the instruments on the audition repertoire.  Credit and preference will be given to well-rounded percussionists.

  • For time purpose, there may be multiple rooms to move through for your audition process.

  • When you enter into an audition room, please do not talk and quickly prepare and adjust any instruments and materials quickly.  Be prepared to check and tune the timpani.

  • You will turn over a piece of paper with a sight reading example.  You have ~30 seconds to look it over, then begin performing it.

  • When you are finished with each room, quietly leave for the next room (please do not talk).

  • You may leave when your audition is fully completed.​
