About the Scholarship Award:

Dr. Marion K. “Doc” Roberts (1947-2021) was the founding Director of Bands for Blue Valley North High School.  From 1985 to 2014, Doctor Roberts led the band program, building a remarkable band family filled with amazing talent and wonderful people.  We are proud to extend his legacy to future generations through this award.

 

Dr. Roberts’ compassion for students and passion for music inspired thousands to achieve personal excellence through participation in the BVN Bands.  The impact of his teaching has helped countless young people to find and achieve their dreams, and his influence will be felt for generations.

 

This award is presented each year to the BVN Band Student who best represents the inspiration and passion with which Dr. Roberts’ guided the BVN Bands, and who will carry these strengths beyond the BVN Band Room.  The award will be presented in the form of a scholarship, as well as the recipient’s name engraved on the award plaque for posterity at BVN.

 

 

ELIGIBILITY FOR THE AWARD:

To be considered for this award:  

 

1. Complete this online form, and submit it by 5:00 PM on Thursday, April 18th, 2024.

2. ESSAY:  Write and submit a short essay:  Write a 500-word maximum essay explaining how participation in the BVN Bands has impacted your personal development, and how you anticipate this influence will benefit your future.

 

We recommend composing your essay in a separate program/document, then copy/paste your essay into the appropriate question below.  Please keep in mind that quality of writing (appropriate grammar/conventions) is important.  The essays are scored on both quality of content and quality of writing.
